With the entire list of Football League fixtures for the 2016/17 season having been released, clubs now know where they will be travelling or who they will be hosting on the opening day of the season.
For Scunthorpe United, they host newly promoted west-country side, Bristol Rovers in their opening fixture at Glandford Park.
The North Lincolnshire will be looking to go one better in the new season after their narrow miss from the play-off positions.
They finished on the same points, 74, as Barnsley, who eventually went on to win promotion, but were left out on goal difference.
They will certainly be looking to get off to a better start than they did in the 2015/16 campaign. Their opening 6 games last season saw them tot up just one win to set off an uninspiring start to the season.
Rovers, on the other hand, will be looking to start their first season back in English football's third tier in winning fashion.
Their start to the 2015/16 was contrasting to Scunthorpe's as they accumulated 3 wins in their first 4 games- sitting 4th in the league.
And, with a successful recruitment process over the summer, the Gas will be hoping for another good start to a league campaign.
Multiple signings have already arrived at the Memorial Stadium this summer with activity in the transfer window showing just how serious Rovers are about League One football.
Fans will be hoping that signings will continue to flow over the summer months with a tough league campaign ahead.
Football League World writer Reece Chambers examines THREE new signings that could star against Scunthorpe...
Byron Moore
The 27-year-old joined Darrell Clarke's Bristol Rovers earlier this month and looks to be a player that could add energy to the side.
As a pacey forward, Moore holds the ability to play on either wing, as well as being able to play straight through the middle of the attacking line.
He contributed a total of 5 goals to Port Vale's tally last season as well as adding a further 4 assists in all competitions.
The new signing could star in his first game for the Gas if he is to be given a debut start.
Defenders could well take time to adapt back to pace of league football and Moore will be an attacker looking to exploit that.
Peter Hartley
Hartley was Clarke's first fresh face to bring to the club with the centre-back becoming a free agent, following the expiration of his contract at Plymouth Argyle.
He appeared 42 times in League 2 for Argyle last season and proved to be a solid and dependable defender. The Englishman also managed to score twice for the west country side with heading being a particular strength of his.
As a result, Hartley could well be tasked with taming the dangerous Paddy Madden who was Scunthorpe's top scorer last season with 20 league goals.
Thus, Hartley will certainly star if he is able to guide Rovers to a clean sheet.
Luke Berry
Cambridge United’s Luke Berry appears to be potential signing for Bristol Rovers.
The 23-year-old midfielder has tremendous work rate and desire – something that Rovers could do with in the centre of midfield, particularly with young age showing potential.
Furthermore, Berry has made over 100 appearances for the League 2 side and has managed to score a total of 34 goals.
As a result, Berry could prove a logical signing for Rovers. And, if he was to be given a debut against Scunthorpe, there would not be a better time for the young midfielder to star in the middle of the park for the Gas.
