With the dust now having settled from Cardiff City's relegation to the Championship, they will now be looking towards how they can bounce back next season.

Yet whereas Neil Warnock will undoubtedly be wanting to make some improvements to his squad between now and August, he may first have to deal with the departure of one of the Bluebirds' most impressive players.

According to Wales Online, Cardiff have reportedly already turned down an £8m bid from Aston Villa for Neil Etheridge.

If this is indeed true, the Bluebirds may struggle to keep hold of the goalkeeper as the temptation of Premier League football could lead to him asking the club to let him leave this summer.

Given just how impressive Etheridge was for the club during the 2018/19 campaign, it is of the utmost importance that Warnock lines up an adequate replacement for the 29-year-old as a failure to do so could result in a season of struggle in the Championship.

Keeping this in mind, let's take a look at three shot-stoppers who could thrive for Cardiff next year...

Dean Henderson

Utterly outstanding whilst on loan at Sheffield United during the 2018/19 campaign, Dean Henderson would prove to be a fantastic addition for the Bluebirds if they can convince him to make the move from Manchester United.

Having kept a Championship-high 21 clean sheets, the 22-year-old is already a proven star at that particular level and so it may be worth pursuing a deal to bring him to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Although the Red Devils are unlikely to let him leave Old Trafford on a permanent deal, they may be open to the possibility of another loan, something which the Welsh side should seriously consider.

Keiren Westwood

`

One of the stand-out performers in the second-half of the season for Sheffield Wednesday, Keiren Westwood could be a good option for Cardiff to consider, especially when you factor in that he may be available on a free this summer.

Despite his heroics for the Owls, the Republic of Ireland international has still yet to finalise a new deal with the Yorkshire-based outfit and therefore could be quite a coup for the Bluebirds if they can convince him to make the switch.

Whereas it is fair to say that Westwood is very much in the twilight of his career at the age of 34, he could still be a solid short-term replacement for Etheridge.

Darren Randolph

Since joining Middlesbrough in 2017 from West Ham United, Darren Randolph has taken his game to new heights and is now undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship.

Arguably in the form of his life, the 32-year-old is definitely a player who Cardiff should consider splashing the cash on this summer as he has the pedigree needed to help the club secure an immediate return to the top-flight.

With Boro facing an uncertain future due to Tony Pulis' departure last month, Randolph may be tempted to take on a new challenge with the Bluebirds if they come in for him.
