Lincoln City are no strangers to the National League. A little over eighteen months ago they were still counted amongst the teams vying for a spot in the EFL.

Much has changed and they're now pressing hard for a place in League One, leading the pack in the basement division on goal difference, but with a game in hand over their rivals MK Dons.

Whilst many of their players have come from further up the ranks, some have made a transition from the National League. This season, Bruno Andrade has been a revelation for them having been with Boreham Wood last year.

John Akinde joined from Barnet, currently of the National League, whilst Tom Pett is another who came through the non-league scene to cement himself as an EFL player.

Manager Danny Cowley knows the scene well, he's also managed Braintree Town and Concord Rangers and understands the quality available to him. Former Lincoln players Sean Raggett and Alex Woodyard have both secured moves up the divisions after emerging from the fifth tier.

Who is next? Here's THREE National League players that should be on the Imps' radar...

Turgott has to be one they'll be keeping an eye one.

He's a former West Ham trainee and a former teammate of Bruno Andrade at Boreham Wood. This season he's impressing with Maidstone, a team the Imps have dealings with already.

Keeper Grant Smith is on loan there, meaning there could be a route in for the Imps

Emmett is just the sort of player Danny Cowley likes, a quick winger who can also drop into a central position. It describes current first team player Tom Pett to a tee.

The one stumbling block is that Cowley likes players in his first team squad who are going to challenge immediately, which Emmett may struggle to do.

They'd be wise to monitor his progress closely, though.

Whilst the football world salivates over Macauley Bonne, his 20-year-old teammate is developing quickly and under the radar.

He was superb as Orient beat Bromley this weekend and is showing signs of turning into a quality striker. He'd slot in behind John Akinde and offer cover if Shay McCartan is recalled by Bradford City.
