Bristol Rovers have enjoyed a superb couple of years under their boss, Darrell Clarke.

Their relegation to the Conference in the 2013/14 season was undoubtedly one of the lowest points of the club's history - spanning back as far as 1883.

However, the club had since managed to gain back-to-back promotions and now find themselves in the competitive league of League One.

The club's rise from their darkest days in the Conference certainly did not come from any sort of fluke. It took hard graft and determination to get the club to where they are now and the man, mainly, responsible for that is their manager.

He brought together a group of players who have transformed the feeling around the club and, barring a few additions, the squad is near on the same team that has helped them to two promotions.

There is certainly a great blend of talent, experience and youth in the Rovers side and that has most definitely made their successes much more likely.

A group of players that have a team chemistry like Rovers do has made the job much more easier for Darrell Clarke but, as in any team, some players grab the headlines more than others.

Even if you don't support Rovers, you're like to have heard of Matty Taylor who scored a record 28 goals for the club.

Furthermore, Tom Lockyer also received great appreciation for his work at the heart of the Rovers as he is proving to be a very hot prospect, as well as Taylor.

However, there are some players in the Rovers side that don't always receive the appreciation they deserve.

Football League World writer, Reece Chambers, examines THREE players who are under appreciated at the Memorial Stadium...

Rory Gaffney

Among all the appreciation for Rovers' top goal scorer Matty Taylor, Gaffney can often be overlooked for the plaudits he deserves.

His impressive loan spell earlier this season resulted in the Gas buying him from Cambridge United on a permanent basis.

Since then, Gaffney hasn't scored as many goals as he would have liked but instead applied himself in other areas.

His tremendous work rate off the ball to find space for Taylor makes them a great partnership and the goal scoring record of Taylor is probably the main reason he can sometimes be overlooked for acclaim.

Ellis Harrison

Another Rovers player who does not always receive the appreciation he may deserve is Welsh striker, Ellis Harrison.

The 22-year-old had not appeared as much as he would have liked to last season with a loan spell out to Hartlepool United breaking up his season with the Gas.

However, his 7 league goals in the 2015/16 campaign are not to be sneered at. He has made a habit of scoring some of the most important goals for Rovers. For example, an equalising goal in the play-off final in 2015. And, most recently, his late equalising goal against league champions, Northampton, in a thrilling comeback.

Some attitude issues may be the reason for Harrison's lack of appreciation at the Memorial Stadium. But, take away Harrison's contribution over the last two seasons and Rovers could still be in the fifth tier of English football.

Ollie Clarke

At the heart of the midfield, Clarke often does a very good job at, both, holding the team together and distributing the ball well.

He is well regarded for his long range passing and can often let pacey full backs Daniel Leadbitter and Lee Brown form an attack down the flanks.

Furthermore, his work rate makes it hard for teams to be get through the Rovers midfield, and, combining that with a firm tackle, Clarke almost always does a good job in the midfield.

However, he may not always receive the acclaim his deserves because he is often found doing the jobs most people don't notice.
