Barnsley will go into the new Championship campaign knowing that they are more than likely to be embroiled in a relegation battle.
Manager Paul Heckingbottom did a superb job last season to guide the club from the bottom of the league right into the play off positions, and then eventual promotion.
Along with having a few match winners like Sam Winnall and Conor Hourihane in the team, Heckingbottom managed to get a real spirit within the team, sparking their impressive unbeaten run over Christmas and New Year.
Part of the reason for this was the influx of players with seemingly a point to prove, many of whom were unwanted by their previous club, or even playing in non league.
Heckingbottom will be hoping to get the same sort of spirit going this season and will no doubt want those players involved showing that spirit.
