Hull City have reacted in nearly perfect fashion following their relegation from the Premier League last season, and they are on course to go back up with Steve Bruce's side sitting top of the Championship table.

The strong defensive partnership of Michael Dawson and Curtis Davies has thwarted countless opposition attackers, and the Tigers have kept three clean sheets in their last five in the league, conceding just twice in that time.

Meanwhile up top Abel Hernandez has been on fire this season and is the second top scorer in the league behind Burnley's Andre Gray.

The team has great depth and have been consistent all season. With the sacking of Paul Clement, Derby will likely drop out of the race and with other rivals hot on their tails; Hull must keep up the form they have going.

However no club has it easy and Hull will have to deal with a lot of problems on their way to promotion.

One such problem is a question of opinion, but there are players who make the first team squad every week only to underperform.

Whether it's bias from the manager or the player is rated highly by the media or due to other reasoning; there are overrated players in every team.

Here are THREE Hull City players that have been overrated this season, in the opinion of FLW writer Rafie Thompson.......

Tom Huddlestone

Tom Huddlestone is a good player by all means, his defensive capability alongside his consistently good passing accuracy means he is a good defensive midfielder.

However this last season and more importantly this season he has been largely underwhelming.

He was a fan favourite in the Premier League in the 2013/14 season where he famously cut off a lock of his huge afro in celebration, after ending his three year goal drought against Fulham.

Since moving down to the Championship with Hull, Huddlestone's form has progressively decreased. His influence on games is not as marked as it used to be and he now regularly comes off of the bench for the Tigers.

His wages will be very high as he is one of the few players who are left from their Premier League days and he is certainly rated higher than his ability.

Chuba Akpom

Currently many will say that Akpom is not really overrated at all and that he is not good enough for the club.

But for a long while Akpom has been rated highly since his Arsenal days and it is only now that his real ability is beginning to show.

The striker has only scored three goals this season and has had plenty of game time to prove his worth, but he has not matched his supposedly high potential and rating and his performances this season will be seen as a big disappointment.

The former Arsenal man has seen his high rating and potential really suffer this season as he has failed to make the cut wherever he has been.

Alex Bruce

We see it a lot in grassroots football, the manager's son is usually in and around the team, and always gets a game despite being worse than some of the players he has replaced.

In Bruce's defence he is good enough for the Championship and has bags of experience at 31, but we cannot ignore that Steve Bruce will rarely say anything bad about Alex Bruce.

He has made eight appearances this season but due to the form of Davies and Dawson, he has not been getting as much playing time as he would like.

Steve Bruce will have to balance his inevitable bias for his son, with the form of his two centre-backs this dilemma could put Hull's season in danger as Alex Bruce is not near the form and level of Dawson and Davies.
