Portsmouth are back in League One action this evening as they take on Milton Keynes Dons at Fratton Park hoping to get back to winning ways.

Pompey were last in action on Saturday against Fleetwood Town at the Highbury Stadium, where they suffered a 1-0 defeat. The loss cost the side their place in the top-six.

Kenny Jackett's squad have an immediate chance to put things right tonight and extend their unbeaten league record at home, but it will not be easy against an MK Dons side who have not lost in their last five matches.

Despite the visitors' recent success in the league, there will no doubt be elements of their game that Pompey can look to exploit.

Here, we pick out three MK Dons weaknesses that Pompey should take advantage of tonight...

Set-pieces and defending their box

This is definitely one element of MK Dons' game that Portsmouth will be looking to take advantage of if we pay closer attention to the statistics.

According to WhoScored, the Buckinghamshire side have conceded 11 goals from set-piece situations so far this term, placing them 6th highest in League One.

Russell Martin will not be pleased to find out that Portsmouth like to put in crosses into the box - they average 25 crosses per game, the highest for any team in the division.

That means Pompey have to try and play with width and get as many deliveries into the opposition area as they can.

QUIZ: Can you name these 11 Portsmouth flops?

Away form

MK Dons' away form is among the worst for any team in the division.

The Buckinghamshire side have won just once on the road all season, taking 8 points from a possible 45 available.

Putting that up against the fact that Pompey have not yet lost a game at home in the league means that it significantly increases the chance of a positive result for the south coast side, as long as they play on the front foot.

Defensive woes

MK Dons do not have great statistics from a defensive point of view at all so far this campaign, and Pompey will have to take advantage of it and impose their game.

According to WhoScored, the Buckinghamshire side concede an average of 15.5 shots per match, ranking them second highest in the division.

They also make the fewest interceptions per game than anyone else in League One, with 6.9 every ninety minutes.

That means it is likely that Portsmouth will create key chances during the course of the game, but they cannot afford to be wasteful in front of goal.
