Nottingham Forest have drastically underachieved so far this year and are sitting precariously above the drop zone during the international break.

Just four wins all season - and only one in the last ten - have seen Nottingham Forest plummet to 20th place in the second tier.

Forest are just two points above the relegation zone and fans will undoubtedly be feeling worried that they will be dragged into a relegation dogfight unless something significant changes soon.

The necessary change could come as a result of a proposed takeover with Fawaz Al-Hasawi all but confirming that he is outbound to make way for new owners.

The new owners have reportedly already decided that Philippe Montanier's tenure at the City Ground is up and they will look to find a new manager when they arrive.

The new manager will need to dip into the transfer window to strengthen this squad and here are three midfielder he could look to bring in.

Jordon Mutch

Jordon Mutch is out of favour at Crystal Palace, only playing eight minutes of Premier League football this year.

The 24-year-old would do a fantastic job at most Championship sides and he would certainly improve Nottingham Forest's central midfield department.

The former Cardiff and QPR man is capable of fulfilling his defensive and attacking duties and would probably be interested in leaving Selhurst Park to reignite his stalling career.

Ashley Westwood

Another out-of-favour central midfielder that Nottingham Forest could offer first team football is Aston Villa's Ashley Westwood.

The technical midfielder is renowned for his composure and slick passing but Villa fans are not impressed with him anymore and have even booed him this season.

With four years of Premier League football and over 100 appearances in the top flight, the 26-year-old would add some vital experience to this Forest side and he is still a good player despite his Villa woes.

Josh Morris

No one could have prepared themselves for Josh Morris' form this season but the Scunthorpe winger has been on fire.

14 goals in 17 league games, as well as five league assists, makes the former Blackburn and Bradford wide man hot property in January.

Nottingham Forest could look to tempt the 25-year-old to the City Ground by offering him regular football in the Championship.

Morris is most naturally suited to the flanks but can also play as a central midfielder or a left back.
