Gary Rowett has done a superb job since taking over at Birmingham City.
The former Burton boss has transformed them from a team which looked destined to drop to the third tier to a side who are preparing themselves for a promotion chasing campaign.
A return to Premier League football is obviously the long-term goal for the Blues and Rowett will be seen as the man for that job.
Birmingham are financially in the best situation they have been in for years.
Gary Rowett has said that funds will be made available to him in January and that he will look to bring in quality over quantity in the window.
Birmingham are on the verge of the play-offs now but adding two or three quality players will heighten the standards overall in the squad, increase competition for places and push the Blues towards the play-off spots.
Here are three midfielders Rowett should consider signing.
Daryl Horgan
Daryl Horgan is one of the most sought-after players in the game after his performances for Dundalk have helped them win the League of Ireland, sit second in their Europa League group and he has even received a call-up to the Republic of Ireland national squad.
The 24-year-old is being tracked by the likes of Newcastle, Aston Villa and Sunderland but he would be promised more game time at St Andrew's and that might be a factor.
The tricky Irishman is an exciting winger with an eye for goal and he could be available on a free by mid-December.
Marcus Maddison
Marcus Maddison is too good to be sticking around in League One for too much longer and the promise of being involved in a promotion chase for a place in the Premier League might be a big enough pull to attract him to Birmingham.
The left winger, who can also play in the middle, on the right or as a left back, has been consistently good at Posh for the last two seasons and is arguably the best player in the league.
The 23-year-old has six goals and seven assists already this season and is surely destined to be playing at a higher level soon.
Lloyd Isgrove
Southampton winger Lloyd Isgrove is very much on the outskirts of the Saints' first team and he probably needs to leave permanently to get his career going.
The 23-year-old has had loan spells with Peterborough, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley so he is familiar with this level of football.
The once-capped Wales international is a pacey winger who can cause problems for opposition defences and get balls into the box.
