Birmingham City are in eighth place in the Championship table only two points off the top six, and now January has arrived, Gary Rowett will be looking to strengthen his side to push his side on into the play-offs.

Rowett has done a tremendous job since taking over at Birmingham City, with a limited budget, he has the Blues playing some great football and has nearly got them into the play-offs.

With Demarai Gray leaving for Leicester City during the window, it is time for Birmingham to add some players to their current squad.

Blues scouts will be hard at work searching for talent, and where would be better than looking at the Manchester United squad, to see if there are some players lurking in the Old Trafford dressing room ready to be unleashed in the Championship.

Here are THREE players that Birmingham could realistically sign from Manchester United this month.......

Devonte Redmond

Devonte Redmond

Redmond would only be available for a loan, but the attacking midfielder is capable of playing on both flanks, and could help fill the void left by Gray's departure.

Over 6ft tall, good in the air and quick, Redmond could cause plenty of problems for Championship defences.

Manchester United have been patient with the cultured midfielder and now may be ready to take his development to the next stage, and let him go out on loan for the rest of the current season.

Nick Powell

Nick Powell

Preston are firm favourites to land the Manchester United attacking midfielder, but if Birmingham acted quickly they could land an outstanding talent.

He missed a recent under-21's game with a calf strain but it's not thought to be too serious.

Powell can also play up front with his versatility could prove a real asset with the rigours of Championship football.

Nick Powell is out of contract in the summer, and if Birmingham can convince him to join for the rest of this season they might just be able to land him on a free at the end of this year.

Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford

Rashford has come through the ranks at Old Trafford from the academy, through to now being involved with the first team squad.

The young striker has scored goals at every level he has played at for Manchester United, though he has yet to full make his debut for the senior team, and has made it clear that he would like to get some first team action.

So this powerful forward is ready to make a name for himself, and why not do it for Birmingham, to help fire them up to the Premier League.
