In the forthcoming weeks, Nottingham Forest are expected to be taken over by an American consortium led by US businessman John Jay Moores.

The news will excite most Nottingham Forest fans who will be glad to see the back of current owner Fawaz Al Hasawi after a disastrous spell at the club.

However one man who may not be so excited about the news is current Forest boss Philippe Montanier.

After just one win in the last ten games, Philippe Montanier has been under pressure for quite some time.

The Reds sit in 20th place with no wins away from home as well as them keeping no clean sheets so far this season.

With so many new owners arriving at a club and stamping their authority by sacking the manager and bringing in their own ideas, Montanier's position at the club is arguably in doubt.

Admittedly, the approach of the new potential owners is unknown as of yet.

They could go for a manager that has plenty of experience of working in the Championship or have something else up their sleeve.

Whatever they choose to do, here are THREE managers that could replace Philippe Montanier if he is axed...

Nigel Pearson

Pearson may have recently had a hugely disappointing spell at Forest's East Midlands rivals Derby County, but there is no doubt that the former Leicester City boss would be a fantastic appointment for any Sky Bet Championship side.

Pearson's fiery and passionate traits are exactly what the Reds need right now to help boost them up the table, and to get the best out of underachieving players such as Henri Lansbury and Pajtim Kasami.

By joining Forest, the Nottingham born manager will have completed the full loop of the three major clubs in the East Midlands.

Pearson would be a great first appointment by the potential new owners.

Mick McCarthy

Despite revealing that he would not quit as Ipswich Town amidst recent protests by some fans, a club with potential new owners could be a tempting project for McCarthy.

The former Wolves boss is one of the most experienced managers in the game at Championship level, and would undoubtedly push the Reds further up the table.

Reaching the play-offs on a shoestring budget at Ipswich is a commendable achievement and if McCarthy was given the chance to finally splash some cash should he join Forest, he could arguably get them back into the Premier League.

The 57-year-old boss would be a fantastic appointment.

Mark Warburton

Certainly the most unlikely manager to join out of the three, but persuading Warburton to join the club as manager would be a huge statement by the potential new owners.

His passing and attacking brand of football, much like Montanier is currently trying to implement at Forest, suits the club down to the ground.

The difference between him and Montanier would be the experience of successfully performing in the Championship.

The current Rangers boss is hugely unlikely to leave the Glasgow club, nonetheless, a move back to the Championship and a club with new owners and fresh ideas could be tempting.

Admittedly though, it is unlikely.

Nottingham Forest fans... Which out of the three managers would you most want? Could they get you promoted? Let us know what you think!
