With the news that Steve Clarke has been sacked by Reading following defeat to QPR, an array of managers have been touted for the top job at the Madejski Stadium.

It would surely be an attractive job for plenty of managers, with the club situated relatively near London, wealthy Thai owners investing into the club, state of the art facilities, and a flourishing youth academy.

The Royals also have a squad jam packed with talent, with the likes of Matej Vydra, Ola John and Lucas Piazon all plying their trade at the Berkshire club.

There aren't an abundance of managers out there to select from, so here are THREE possible candidates which would be a good choice for Reading.....

Nigel Pearson

Following his surprising sacking by Leicester before the start of the season, Pearson has been able to have a long break from football and might now see Reading as the best opportunity to come back into management, with a promotion on his CV there is no surprise to see him one of the early bookmakers favourite.

He would bring excitement to the attacking play for Reading just like he did towards the end of the season with Leicester.

However with his assistants still at Leiceste,r would Reading be prepared to pay compensation to get them in if wanted by Pearson?

Phil Parkinson

parkinson

After being at Reading for over 10 years collecting over 300 appearances while there, Phil Parkinson would surely be a popular choice for some sections of Reading fans just due to his past club links.

Adding that to the fantastic job he has been doing at Bradford for the past few years with the skill of finding some quality players with a low budget, if given funds to spend at Reading, you could back him to find the right players.

With the huge passion he has for the club and the attacking play he likes to do at Bradford, you could see him being a very good choice for Reading fans.

Brian McDermott

Could there be a return for Brian McDermott after his last spell at the club ended badly, when sacked by the club when in the Premier League, after taking them there the season before?

Its been a lengthy period since his last job which was a period he would want to forget at Leeds, but this might be the right time and club for McDermott to come back where it all started for him.

With new owners now at the club, surely the past of what McDermott did at the club still be the memories of most people at the club and given the chance again, he could he do it all over again just like before.
