Reading are set to sack manager Jose Gomes in the coming days and there has been a whole host of names already linked to the club.

The Royals are sitting in the relegation zone once more and this comes after spending money on a number of different players over the summer transfer window.

Gomes has lost five of his last six Championship fixtures and this has been a cause for a concern for the board and the owners who are eager to see Reading improve.

Here are THREE managers that Reading must now consider to get away from trouble...

Aitor Karanka

The former Middlesbrough manager has experience in the Championship and has been brilliant in past seasons as he uses his style to create a side that can compete at the top end of the division.

Karanka has the experience, and has worked with a number of different foreign players that means he'd be able to help this Reading side who have a number of European recruits.

He'd have potential to get the best out of the forwards, just like he did with Patrick Bamford and Cristhian Stuani at Boro.

Gareth Ainsworth

The Wycombe manager has done a remarkable job at the Chairboys and is highly rated amongst the Football League.

Many feel that the Royals need someone who can give them stability and be a long-term boss at the club. They thought that Gomes was going to be that man, but it hasn't happened and they'll be hoping someone can come in to do that.

Ainsworth and his Wycombe side are looking good so far this season, and their gradual improvement through the years shouldn't go unnoticed as it has been phenomenal.

Chris Hughton

This should be one of Reading's top targets. Hughton has been fantastic in the Championship in the past and should be considered as one of the managers Reading would want to get in the most.

He took over Brighton who were in a similar situation a good number of years ago and turned them into a stable Premier League side.

Reading have money, and we all know the owners aren't afraid to spend it. This would be a massive appointment if the Royals could get him in.
