Oxford United have been performing well in League One this season, and their good form could come at a cost over the next few weeks.

Football Insider are reporting that Oxford manager Karl Robinson is being lined up by Spanish club Malaga as their next manager, a rumour that comes as a shock to many.

Malaga have been without a manager for the past two days, after Victor Sanchez was sacked following an indecent video of the 43-year-old emerging on the internet.

With Robinson possibly on his way out, here are three managers that Oxford come true if the rumours became a reality in the near future...

Darrell Clarke

The former Bristol Rovers manager has been in charge of League Two side Walsall since last summer, and he could be a good pick for Oxford if Robinson was to depart for a job overseas.

The current Walsall gaffer may not have hands-on experience of trying to take a team up to the Championship, but he would bring a good knowledge of League One and did wonders with Bristol Rovers while on a shoe-string budget.

Clarke would be a popular choice of manager both within the dressing room and in the stands, and he would be able to get stuck in to the task of trying to maintain Oxford's promotion push straight away.

Michael Flynn

The current Newport County manager has done well in League Two with his side since being appointed in 2017, having taken them to the playoffs last season.

While they missed out at the final hurdle and are struggling to recreate their form this season, Flynn has proven before that he may have the credentials to take a job in League One.

Oxford may not be the best pick of club for Flynn, however he has proven before that he is capable of adapting to different situations within management and he has the experience within the Football League to do well a league higher than where he is now.

Nigel Adkins

Adkins has been out of work since leaving Hull City in the summer, but he could be a good option for Oxford as their next manager if they was to lose Robinson to Malaga.

The 54-year-old has previous management experience in the Premier League and Championship, and he would be able to keep Oxford's playoff challenge in League One on track if he was appointed manager.

The former Southampton and Reading boss would get the respect from the players on the pitch and would have a contact book that he could use to full effect to put his stamp on his own squad at The Kassam Stadium.
