The saga at Oldham Athletic rumbles on as they search for their third manager of a poor season.

They've failed to acquit themselves well in League Two, struggling to launch a play-off assault and losing manager Frankie Bunn as a consequence.

Pete Wild took over while they searched for a new boss, with lifelong fan Paul Scholes coming in. The search for Scholes lasted longer than his tenure as manager; he resigned after losing 2-0 at Lincoln City.

The club are in a rut right now, 15th in League Two which will represent their worst finish in almost fifty years. If they drop below 20th by the end of the season, it'll be their worst finish in sixty years.

They need someone to come in and not only steady the ship, but give them hope for the future.

We've picked three managers we think might be up to the task.

Kevin Nolan

He knows League Two having been with Notts County last season, taking them to the play-offs.

He was sacked after a bad start, but would still have plenty to offer the Latics.

He had a keen eye for a player, taking Jorge Grant and Ryan Yates on loan last season and he's got managerial experience despite being relatively young.

Ronnie Moore

It might not be the most popular choice, but Moore is a former Latics manager who knows the club and the lower divisions.

His style of football didn't suit their League One aspirations, but it would be right at home in League Two.

They could do a lot worse than the 66-year-old.

Tim Flowers

The Solihull Moors manager is hot property tight now, having put them in promotion contention in the National League.

If they're ambitious, he'd be the right man to swoop in and help push them forward.
