West Brom are reportedly lining up Preston boss, Alex Neil as Darren Moore’s potential successor before the season reaches a conclusion according to Sky Sports.

Moore’s dismissal certainly came as a surprise, with just ten league games remaining for the Baggies who currently occupy one of the play-off places.

But one thing that won’t come as a surprise, is to see Neil being linked with a managerial vacancy at a more reputable club.

Preston supporters will be hoping that he can stick around with the club for as long as possible, before making any rash decisions about his future.

Neil joined the club in July 2017, and has taken the Lilywhites to within touching distance of the top six this season in a hugely impressive league campaign.

It remains to be seen as to whether the speculation will result in a formal contract being offered to Neil by West Brom.

Who could Preston target if Neil was to depart though?

Find out below….

Carvalhal was last in work with Swansea, but was unable to keep them in the Premier League last season.

He's already shown that he can manage to a good enough standard in the Championship, after a mixed spell with Sheffield Wednesday and he could be keen to take charge of Preston if Neil left for West Brom.

The Lincoln boss is going to be one of the most in-demand managers in the English game, as his Lincoln side look destined for promotion to League One this season.

He has been hugely impressive and Preston could be the ideal club for him to make the bold move to the Championship in the near future.

[snack_break title="Gareth Ainsworth"]

The Wycombe boss has been at the club for over six years now and has taken them as far as they can go.

He is a promising and relatively young manager that could certainly make the step up to the Championship if a club like Preston come calling.
