Reading FC have severely underachieved this season after originally having ambitions to secure a play-off spot.

The Royals currently lie in 16th place in the Championship and have nothing play for in the Championship.

However Brian McDermott will want the Berkshire side to carry on their spirit and fight they produced in Saturday's 3-1 win with West Brom, by reproducing it in each and every game between now and the end of the season.

If they achieve this, then Brian McDermott will be able to go into the summer feeling positive during his short time back in charge of the club.

This side will have no worries of being relegated, but it certainly won’t get promoted - taking the FA Cup out of the equation and all focus now should be on building for the 2016/2017 campaign.

Brian McDermott's side will surely look to some of the Premier League sides to explore some their players looking for first team opportunities.

Paddy McNair

Since joining Manchester United, McNair has adapted to become a versatile defender who can play at centre-half and at right back.

The talented young centre-half is comfortable in possession and could be an attractive addition to Reading’s defensive ranks.

He would provide great competition for Paul McShane and Jake Cooper.

He has been very impressive when called upon by Louis Van Gaal, but has been out of the frames in the last few months due to the high performances of Daley Blind and Chris Smalling.

Reading need someone of McNair’s ability to steady the back four as they look for promotion next season.

Andreas Pereira

Another Man Utd youngster that is causing a positive stir around the club is Andreas Pereira who could most certainly fit into the Reading’s squad.

Pereira has impressed for Manchester United in the UEFA Youth League and for Brazil’s youth side.

He has adapted to the physicality of English football, and could be a valuable asset for the Berkshire side.

Pereira could offer Reading something different that could produce them a few more goals that they have seemed to struggle with lately.

He would fit in perfectly in a attacking midfield role and someone that the Royals should definitely consider.

James Weir

Unlike the other two players, Weir is not very known in the football world, but has slowly starting to impress in the under 21 side.

He is an attacking midfielder with an eye for a pass and has plenty of ability in abundance.

He made 21 appearances in United’s 2014 title winning under-21 campaign.

He has remained with the Reds throughout his career but looks set to test his ability in terms of gaining experience in Championship football.

He has featured for England’s under-18 side and would be welcome addition to Reading’s ranks during the window.
