Plymouth might be the largest city in England not to have hosted top flight football, but they're working hard to put that right at present, starting with promotion from League One.

Last season Argyle were in League Two, but a year on and they're still hunting back to back promotions.

They're sixth with a game in hand on the teams below and above, therefore likely to land somewhere within the play-offs in a couple of weeks' time.

Derek Adams has done a superb job on the south coast, moulding a team capable of consistent success and it would be hard to bet against them in the end of season lottery. Home Park is a tough ground to visit, but on their travels Plymouth are both resilient and persistent.

They've lost just once in the last 12 matches, a statistic that could well see them emerge as a Championship club come the beginning of June. That would be a remarkable achievement for the players and staff at the club, but something that is entirely warranted.

Here's three things FLW believes we've learned about Derek Adams and his side this season.

Taylor is an unsung hero of Home Park, a player who links superbly with some of the more high-profile players in the squad.

During the slump in form before Christmas, Taylor had a broken ankle and spent a lot of time on the side lines. Since his return, the club have been virtually unstoppable in their ascent up the league.

It would be remiss not to mention the maverick Graham Carey, a player with goals and assists in his repertoire.

He should be attracting attention from the Championship, not bad for a player most ignored in League Two last season.

Adams doesn't care who he upsets and his bullish behaviour has won him few fans away from Plymouth.

His controversial and abrasive style almost caused trouble at the recent game against Bristol Rovers, but few Argyle fans will care as his side look set for more on field success.
