Luton Town haven't always been known for their academy success, but manager Graeme Jones will still be looking at a few of their promising youngsters.

Jones has preferred the more experienced heads who have been there and done it during their career, but a sprinkle of youth could be enough to make it a better balance at Kenilworth Road.

The Hatters are currently embroiled in a Championship relegation dogfight, and some youngsters could be handed the opportunity to start next season if Luton find themselves back in League One after one season.

So, here are three Luton youngsters that will be eyeing up a regular place in the starting XI next season...

Frankie Musonda

The young defender has featured in Luton's senior squad before, but loan spells out to various non-league sides have seen him have to wait for another opportunity at first-team level.

The 22-year-old is a product of the Hatters youth academy and has done well when called upon, but he will view next season as being the campaign where his career kicks on.

Having learnt the trade of men's football with Oxford City, Braintree Town and Hemel Hempstead Town, he knows various tricks of the trade that he is likely to come up against, and it is about time that he started to realise his own potential.

Peter Kioso

The young right-back signed last month from Hartlepool United, but is yet to make it into the matchday 18 as he gets up to speed in training.

Kioso is a talented player but stepping up three leagues is always a difficult challenge to overcome for any player, let alone one that has come straight out of the non-league circuit.

The defender may find that he fails to really lay down a marker to start this season, however being given a starting berth next season isn't out of the question if he shows the attitude and desire when pre-season rolls around.

Harry Isted

The young goalkeeper is currently getting rave reviews out on loan with National League South side Wealdstone, but the youngster may find himself thrown into Luton's starting XI next season.

He is currently fourth-choice in a talented goalkeeping department that includes Marek Stetch, Simon Sluga and James Shea, but if one or two of them was to leave during the summer, he may find himself promoted up the pecking order.

Isted will have a lot to do if he wants to secure the starting spot in goal for next term, but his attitude, determination and desire while out on loan could go a long way in staking a claim for the shirt.
