Bristol City are thought to be looking at Rangers star Lee Wallace as a replacement for left-back Lloyd Kelly, the 21-year-old attracting lots of interest from the Premier League.

The Robins seems resigned to losing their exciting youngster and if reports are to be believed, they've identified 31-year-old Wallace as a replacement.

Wallace has played all of his football in Scotland, emerging at Heart of Midlothian before moving to Ibrox. He played a key role in bringing them up from Division Three to the Championship, but has fallen out off favour in recent seasons.

It would seem odd to replace such a vibrant youngster with a stalwart such as Wallace, but what other options are there available to Lee Johnson? If he wanted to bring in a left back from the EFL, who is available and might be a better investment?

FLW investigates three targets they might do well to move for this winter.

25-year-old James is currently keeping Bryan Oviedo out of the Sunderland side and whilst they're still a League One club, he could be a good acquisition for the Robins.

James is a composed and assured full-back with high resale value if they were to do well. He might cost a bit more than Wallace, but he wouldn't break the bank.

24-year-old Potts represented England up to Under 20 level and is now a key figure at Luton Town as they hunt a Championship place.

The former West Ham youngster is a left back, just like Kelly and is one who could accrue value with a step up.

He wouldn't be the cheap option, but if they sold Kelly they'd be able to afford a swoop with ease.

Tymon has not played anywhere near as much football as the others on the list, but he's perfect for Bristol City.

He's a Stoke player right now, he has three top-flight appearances to his name and spent some of last season at MK Dons.

He'd be a project, a player who hasn't thrived elsewhere but who could easily develop into the next Lloyd Kelly.
