With the January transfer window now open, the opportunity presents itself for all Football League clubs to improve their squads in order to achieve their season expectations.

It can sometimes be a catalyst for success as some teams will look to bring in an eye-catching transfer, which can signal a statement of intent to the rest of the league.

However, it can also be an equally destructive month for clubs with the possibility of losing key players, should a large offer come in.

Therefore it can be equally as important to bring in the right players but also to keep the current key players.

Cardiff City find themselves well poised for a play -ff push in the second half of the season, and it's sure to be an important month for Russell Slade's side in the market.

Jerome Sinclair

Sinclair is the youngest player to ever play for Liverpool following an appearance in the Capital One Cup for the club at just 16 years old.

The striker could be a replacement for Kenwyne Jones who looks set to leave the club.

The pacy forward is now 19 and hasn't experienced regular first-team football but he has managed to bang the goals in at youth level.

The Englishman joined Wigan in the Championship on loan last season but only made one appearance in a brief spell.

A loan move would be a good deal for all parties and it would be a chance for Sinclair to prove his worth at a high level.

Jordan Rossiter

Rossiter has already made appearances for Liverpool both in the Premier League and the Europa League, but he has only been able to record a few appearances.

A loan move to Cardiff would be of great benefit to player and club as the 18-year-old has shown a lot of impressive qualities when playing.

The central midfielder is tenacious and will certainly want to impress at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Cardiff will also be boosted with more depth to the squad which could come in handy with the marathon that is the Championship.

Russell Slade will want to have options handed to him in order to get the best out of his Cardiff City team.

Jon Flanagan

Flanagan has already proven that he is an established player at the higher ends of English football, having been a regular under Brendan Rodgers - however, injuries have seriously held the player back.

Flanagan can play in both full-back positions and is an accomplished defender which helped him achieve an appearance in an England friendly in 2014.

Flanagan is slowly getting back to full fitness so he could do with gaining some competitive football.

A loan move to Cardiff would be a coup for the club with the player's versatility an added bonus.

Getting in proven quality is surely to be an aim for Russell Slade as they have their eyes firmly set on the play-offs.
