Leeds United suffered a disappointing set-back last weekend, losing 1-0 to fellow promotion hopefuls Sheffield United.

It was a loss that bumped them out of the automatic promotion places heading into the international break but with just one point separating them from the Blades, hopes will not have vanished just yet.

They welcome strugglers Millwall to Elland Road after the break in what looks like a prime opportunity to get back on track.

But in modern football, clubs are always looking to the future and plans will undoubtedly have already been put in place for the coming summer transfer window.

Lists will be being drawn up for players who could be targeted in the event they win promotion to the Premier League and also if they do not.

The names of more expendable members of the current squad will also be noted by Bielsa and the board as they look to clear space on the wage bill.

Here, then, are THREE players who look set for a summer exit…

Caleb Ekuban

The on loan striker has been speaking recently about his plans for the summer, insisting that he is yet to make a decision on his immediate future.

But considering the 24-year-old has only managed four goals in 21 matches since moving to Trabzonspor, it seems unlikely that he will be kept around for next season.

Whether it is a sale or a loan remains to be seen.

Paudie O’Connor

The 21-year-old was sent out on loan to League One this season, presumably with the hope that he would prove his worth to the Whites.

Instead, he has managed just 21 appearances across spells with Blackpool and Bradford and has played just one minute in the Bantams last 11 League One matches.

Bielsa will have a better idea of his potential but a permanent move to a third or fourth tier club looks much more likely.

Tyler Denton

Much like O’Connor, Denton will have been sent to League One to prove his ability in a first-team environment.

But the left-back has picked up just eight appearances for Peterborough United in the third-tier and has done nothing at all to prove his worth to Bielsa and Leeds.

At 23, he should be reaching the peak of his powers and it is unlikely that his parent club will deem them good enough.
