Derby County can be satisfied with their progress in the Sky Bet Championship since Steve McClaren's homecoming.

The Rams sit 16th in the table after 16 games, winning 5 times, drawing 5 times, and losing 6 times but they look a much more stable outfit with McClaren at the helm.

McClaren is picking up the pieces after Nigel Pearson failed to live up to expectations and left Derby in a bad state.

League Two is a league where talent is found in abundance, and where many youngsters who have the potential to be real stars in the future are found.

The likes of Jamie Vardy, Matt Ritchie and Rickie Lambert came through the ranks at League Two level, and are now elite stars in the upper echelons of the English leagues.

So, with that in mind, here FLW writer George Harbey identifies THREE League Two players that Derby County must look to sign in January.

Conor Chaplin

Perhaps the most promising young starlet in League Two, Chaplin has enjoyed a fantastic start to his career, playing for his boyhood club.

Now Pompey's first choice striker, Chaplin was in fabulous form last term, scoring 11 times in 38 games for the Blues, with 29 of those being substitute appearances.

And the 19-year old already has 5 goals to his name thus far this term, and there'll surely be more goals to come if he remains at Fratton Park this season.

But that seems unlikely, with many high profile clubs after his signature, and Derby should definitely be one of those teams.

Aaron Pierre

Another fantastic League Two prospect, the 23-year old has been a revelation at the back for Wycombe Wanderers in recent years.

The Grenadian, who joined from Brentford in 2014, had made 83 appearances for the Chairboys, who sit 21st in the table.

Leeds have been one of many Championship teams looking to pursue Pierre's signature, and with the Rams short in the centre back department, he would be a tremendous acquisition.

Omar Bogle

Rounding off the list is none other than Grimsby talisman Omar Bogle.

The 23-year old who joined the Mariners from Solihull Moors in 2015, has netted 22 times in 52 games for Grimsby, 9 of which have come this year already.

Nottingham Forest and Wigan Athletic were after him in the closing stages of the summer but Marcus Bignot's men resisted any temptation of letting the prolific forward leave Blundell Park.

His presence and pace would be a key asset for any team, which is why Derby really should look to signing Bogle in January.
