Sheffield Wednesday marched into the Championship play -ff final thanks to a win and a draw with Brighton over the two legs, and many now fancy them to win the final and get themselves back in the Premier League.

All season Carlos Carvalhal has had them playing flowing attacking football, while crucially not sacrificing any of their defensive responsibilities.

Part of the success this season has been the excellent striking talents of Gary Hooper and Fernando Forestieri, who have banged in 30 goals between them and forged a real partnership for the Owls.

However, as Wednesday look to build, they will need to add to this striking talent, and whether that be in the Championship or the Premier League, they might well want to take a punt on a League One hot shot.

Plenty of players hit the headlines this season in League One, and the Owls might just fancy taking a punt on someone from the third tier in the hope they become the next Jamie Vardy.

So, here are THREE League One strikers the Owls could consider signing........

Nicky Ajose

The Owls are not just going to plump for any old League One striker, and Ajose might fit the mould of someone they will take a punt on.

Young enough at 24 and with enough pace to contribute to most teams if used right, he would offer a different option to what they currently have available.

He scored 24 goals this season in a struggling Swindon side, and has confidence in his own ability for sure. The former Peterborough man could well be an excellent signing, and might well find his feet and form at a higher level given the chance.

Che Adams

What better way than to annoy your local rivals even more by pinching their star youngster?

It might seem unfathomable, but it is a possibility, as on pure footballing terms, Adams has the full package to be a modern day strike ace.

Pace in abundance, an eye for goal, and still only 19 years old, he would be a real steal if the Owls could prize him away from Bramall Lane. Adams is being courted by a host of top clubs, and is destined for a higher level over the next few seasons.

Lee Gregory

Probably the closest thing to being the next lower league revelation, Gregory has followed a similar path to that of the aforementioned Jamie Vardy, with lower league football to his name.

He has though excelled with Millwall, and was on target in the first leg play off win over Bradford last week.

Over 20 goals this team has seen Gregory thrust into the limelight, and he might be available cheaper than a lot of other options the Owls could look at. It would be a risk, but as we have seen in the Premier League this season, some risks can pay off handsomely.
