Following on from a disappointing fifth season in Sky Bet League One, the Sheffield United board have acted quickly, replacing Nigel Adkins after only 11 months in charge with former player Chris Wilder.

The Blades were poor in the main throughout the season, and struggled to find any sort of consistency in their performances.

Bramall Lane became somewhat of a non-fortress, the opposite of what most fans want to see, and as the season ended in a whimper with a home defeat to Scunthorpe United, it was clear that change was needed.

Part of the reason in the poor performances was a lack of fear they Blades squad struck into the opposition, with only Billy Sharp and Che Adams consistent scorers.

If the Blades are going to change this, then they might want to add further firepower to their ranks, to cancel out the severe lack of goals from midfield and the back.

With that in mind, FootballLeagueWorld writer Lee Connor identifies THREE League One strikers who Sheffield United should look to sign...

Second only to Will Grigg in the scoring charts, Ajose has smashed in 24 goals in what was a disappointing season overall for Swindon Town.

If the Blades are to challenge properly next term, then going and getting one of the league's most prolific strikers is something they should seek to do, and Ajose fits that bill.

The former Peterborough man would bring pace and ruthless finishing to the camp, as well as the experience of being a seasoned campaigner in the lower leagues.

Tom Bradshaw

A host of clubs will already be on red alert, as they await to see if Walsall win promotion to the Championship via the play-offs.

If not, then Bradshaw will no doubt be sold, as plenty of clubs have already registered an interest in the prolific striker.

Over the season, Bradshaw has been excellent along with midfield creator Romaine Sawyers, and Walsall fans will be desperate for them both to stay.

Should the Saddlers not win promotion, then Sheffield United would be wise to test the water with a solid bid for Bradshaw.

Paddy Madden

20 goals in a Scunthorpe team which was not expected to challenge near the top six is not something to be sniffed at, and Madden has now shown on multiple occasions he is a capable goalscorer at this level.

A similar prolific spell with Yeovil Town a few seasons back shot him into the limelight, and the Blades showed an interest in him then too.

Madden is a natural finisher, and possesses excellent movement in and around the box.

With Sharp also a poacher, he might end up playing second fiddle, but then again, there is no reason they cannot form a brilliant partnership at Bramall Lane if a deal could be agreed.
