Wolverhampton Wanderers are right in the middle of an important moment in the club's history.

After a Chinese consortium took over in the summer, they are now investing big money in the club and they will expect results. They also replaced long serving manager Kenny Jackett and replaced him with Walter Zenga, who has had mixed success so far.

With the club sitting mid-table in the Championship, it is clear that their large number of overseas signings have not yet settled in to life in the Championship. It may take some time to bed them in or alternatively they might just not be suited to the English style of football or the physical demands of the Championship.

Wolves will undoubtedly look to recruit in January and they should look no further than League One for their targets. Players that are standing out in the third tier are more than likely to be able to make the step up to the second tier.

Here are THREE League One players who Wolves should consider signing in January...

Marcus Maddison

Marcus Maddison

The majority of Wolves' attacking midfielders are on loan from Benfica or have come from the continent, such as Helder Costa, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Ivan Cavaleiro and Ola John.

Marcus Maddison has a distinctly different background and has consistently performed for Peterborough in League One for the past couple of seasons.

The 23-year-old already has six goals and five assists to his name this season and his experience of English football could make him an ideal capture for Walter Zenga.

Ben Stevenson

Coventry City have been renowned for bringing through talented youth and then selling the players on, as evidenced with Cyrus Christie, James Maddison, Calum Wilson and more.

Ben Stevenson is the latest exciting talent to come through the Coventry academy and the central midfielder is technically excellent.

What the 19-year-old lacks in experience, he makes up for in talent and maturity and he was recently rewarded with a new contract.

Mahlon Romeo

Mahlon Romeo is heralded as one of the most exciting youngsters in League One.

The 21-year-old right back broke into the Millwall first team last year and is already playing international football for Antigua and Barbuda.

With Millwall scrapping at the bottom end of League One, Romeo might be tempted to move to the Championship sooner rather than later and Wolves could be a possible destination.
