Since taking the reigns at St Andrews, Gary Rowett has stabilised Birmingham City into one of the most consistent teams in the 2nd tier of English football.

Week in week out Birmingham are now extremely tough to break down and beat, and this is making them a real force to be reckoned with.

Rowett's man currently sit in 6th place in the Sky Bet Championship table after a good start to the season which has seen them pick up 5 wins from the opening 11 league games.

But, more importantly they have only been beaten once, the least in the Championship.

Fans love to see the club sign a player to develop, someone who the club can nurture and turn into the next superstar, and with many bright lower league talents knocking around at the moment this article is going to take a look at THREE League One stars Birmingham City should take a chance on in January...

Josh Morris

Scunthorpe winger Josh Morris is currently undergoing a spell of goalscoring form that not even he in his wildest dreams could have imagined.

The former Blackburn Rovers man has scored 12 goals in 12 games for the club and has fired them to the top of the table, where they currently sit three points clear of Bradford City who occupy 2nd spot.

Morris has displayed an excellent eye for goal so far this season and has scored some spectacular individual efforts.

After his brilliant start to the season I have no doubt many clubs will be taking admiring glances at the 25-year-old, and it would be of no surprise to me if Birmingham City were one of those clubs.

Morris has previously represented the likes of Fleetwood Town, Bradford City, Yeovil Town and Rotherham United.

In his early days at Blackburn Rovers he actually appeared 7 times for the club in the Premier League

Bradley Dack

Midfield maestro Bradley Dack has been catching the eye for League One Gillingham for a few years now, and is just waiting for a bigger club to take a punt on him to allow him to show off his talent at the level above.

Dack is one of a very rare breed, a goalscoring midfielder.

Last season for the Gills he made a total of 44 appearances for the club, scoring a quite remarkable 15 goals in the process from midfield.

The 22-year-old has excellent technical ability and also has the Frank Lampard type knack of arriving in the penalty area in the right place at the right time.

Dack's stock is only on the rise, after sweeping up every award there was to win at Gillingham last season he also picked up the League One player of the season award, as well as being named in the Football League team of the season.

Louis Reed

Louis Reed

Louis Reed of Sheffield United became the club's youngest ever debutant when he featured during a 1-0 home win against Rotherham United in April 2014, and since then has kicked on and gone on to make over 50 senior appearances for the club.

However, since the arrival of Chris Wilder as manager at Bramall Lane he has struggled to break into the first team and has been limited to just one appearance so far this term, which came during a Checkatrade trophy match against Leicester Under 23's.

There is no doubting that Reed is a special talent and that he has a huge future in the game.

While he may not be ready at the moment for first team football in the 2nd tier, there is no doubt that Birmingham and Gary Rowett could see the youngman as a project, someone who could they develop into a top class Championship player.
