Having taken over the reins at Queens Park Rangers last month, Mark Warburton will undoubtedly be looking to put his own stamp on his new side between now and the upcoming Championship campaign.

With the Hoops' currently suffering from a shortage of attacking options at Loftus Road, it is not at all surprising that the 46-year-old has been linked with a move for Scott Hogan.

According to West London Sport, the R's are reportedly interested in signing the forward from Aston Villa this summer on a season-long loan deal.

If this does indeed turn out to be true and Warburton ends up securing the services of Hogan, it could have several ramifications on the club's fortunes over the next 11 months.

Keeping this in mind, here are three knock-on effects that we think could occur if the R's do get their man...

The Hoops finally start firing in the Championship

Whereas Hogan has struggled for form in recent years for Villa, he did show glimpses of his brilliant best whilst on loan at Sheffield United during the second half of the 2018/19 campaign and capped off his spell at Bramall Lane by scoring the goal which secured promotion for Chris Wilder's side.

By taking inspiration from his time with the Blades as well as his extremely successful stint at Brentford, the Republic of Ireland international could quite easily fire QPR to a higher finish in the Championship in 2020 than they achieved last month.

Hogan's arrival allows the players around him to flourish

Whereas the likes of Luke Freeman and Massimo Luongo both performed exceptionally for the Hoops last season, it could be argued that the arrival of Hogan during the ongoing transfer window could allow them to take their games to new heights in the new campaign.

Blessed with exceptional pace, the 27-year-old will be confident that he can provide a fantastic outlet for the aforementioned duo, as well as the rest of their team-mates, to constantly target when on the attack.

The forward fails to make the impact expected of him

Although Hogan has proven to be a real menace in the Championship during the earlier stages of his career, there is no guarantee that he will be able to replicate this standard of play at QPR.

If he fails to live up to expectations, the Hoops may end up experiencing another season of a struggle in the second-tier due to a lack of an attacking presence which is the last thing that their supporters will want following a dismal year under the guidance of Steve McClaren.
