Queens Park Rangers appear to be setting out their January plans already with the club linked with Hearts striker Uche Ikpeazu by West London Sport.

Bristol City and Derby County are also thought to be interested in bringing the 24-year-old in during the January transfer window with a second-tier bidding war looking more and more likely.

Ikpeazu impressed for the Jam Tarts last season, scoring ten times as he helped Craig Levein's side to the Scottish Cup final where they were eventually beaten by Celtic - who are also thought to be interested.

He made the move North of the border from Cambridge United in the summer of 2018 on a free transfer and has already scored two goals and assisted two more in six games this season.

But what effect could his arrival have on what has been an impressive start to the season for the Rs?

Goals, goals, goals

Rangers have not exactly struggled for goals so far this season but adding some striking competition could well see those figures rocket.

Jordan Hugill and Nahki Wells have formed an excellent partnership but at the moment have few players challenging them from the bench and in training.

Ikpeazu's arrival could therefore ensure that the duo do not get complacent and up their game in order to ensure they retain their spot.

Transfer interuption

Ikpeazu will still have two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract when the January window rolls around.

So the Jam Tarts are not about to let him go on the cheap. QPR are not flushed with cash at the moment as they look to scale back their spending so they will need to decide if it is worth it.

Bringing him in would likely scupper other transfer plans and possibly prevent them from strengthening the rest of their squad.

Fan boost

As fans, we love to see our teams make attacking transfers. They are the ones that show the most ambition after all.

For QPR fans, then, seeing their side bring in another exciting front man could show them that they are serious about pushing as high in the table as possible.

A happy and excited fan base can have a huge impact on a team's success so the move's off-field impact should not be underestimated.
