Daniel Stendel’s Barnsley will be looking to cement their place in the Championship next season, but they could be set to do so without one of their most important players.

Kieffer Moore scored 19 goals in 35 appearances for the Tykes last season, as they marched towards automatic promotion after a hugely impressive campaign in League One.

After such a prolific season in front of goal, the 26-year-old is now attracting interest from Millwall and Bristol City, as per reports from the Daily Mail.

Both the Lions and the Robins are believed to be keen on landing the powerful striker, and it is believed that both sides are looking to sign the former Yeovil man for a fee of around £3million.

Of course, Stendel will be looking for a replacement for his star forward if he is to lose him this summer, and here, we take a look at three forwards that would be shrewd acquisitions.

Tom Eaves

If Moore were to depart Oakwell this summer, then Eaves would be a fantastic replacement.

The 27-year-old scored 22 goals in 50 games for Gillingham last season, despite the Kent club languishing in the lower half of the League One table for the majority of the campaign.

He is a very physical, powerful forward whose playing style is similar to Moore’s, and would be a very shrewd capture.

Joe Pigott

Pigott was influential for AFC Wimbledon in the second half of the season, and his goals helped Wally Downes’ side avoid what looked to be an inevitable drop to League Two at one point.

The 25-year-old scored 18 goals for the Dons last season, and has recently been linked with a move to Championship side Reading for a fee of around £250,000.

His work-rate is exceptional, and for a six-figure fee, he could prove to be a bargain of a signing.

Mallik Wilks

Wilks has recently been linked with a move to Oakwell, after a hugely impressive campaign on loan with Doncaster Rovers last season.

The Leeds United forward scored 16 goals and produced six assists for the Yorkshire club last term, as they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Championship.

He may be a slightly different forward to Moore, but he is more than ready to prove himself in the Championship.
