Sheffield Wednesday have enjoyed a satisfactory start to the season, but the home tie against Stoke City represents their toughest test yet.

Jos Luhukay's side sit 11th in the table, having registered three league victories on the bounce going into this fixture.

In fact, the last three games for the Owls have resulted in a 2-1 victory, most recently an away victory at The Madejski Stadium against Reading.

The German coach is starting to be appreciated by the Hillsborough faithful, who had an undermining campaign last year on the back of two close attempts at promotion, falling in the play-offs on both occasions.

Despite the recent run of form for Wednesday, the game against Gary Rowett's Stoke is a tough test. The Potters have had a dreadful start to the season, as the promotion favourites have managed just one win in the first month or so.

Although it has been poor for Stoke, they still have one of the most talented squads on paper and will see Hillsborough as a place where they can go and pick up a well needed three points.

Here, we look at THREE talking points for Jos Luhukay's Sheffield Wednesday ahead of Saturday's clash with Stoke City...

Scoring three goals in the last two, Lucas Joao is developing into a huge asset for Wednesday.

The Portuguese striker is in his fourth full season at the club, but is set for his best goalscoring campaign yet, and his form will be pivotal should Wednesday push for the play-offs this time out.

At the height of 6ft3, Joao represents a sharp asset in the box which plays to the style of Jos Luhukay's side.

Wednesday midfielder Kieran Lee could face another spell on the sidelines because of an ongoing knee problem, which has kept him out of action for a number of weeks.

Prior to this development, Lee managed just fifteen minutes for the development squad in a win over Colchester United on Monday.

Lee has been plagued with injuries in the last year and is yet to feature under Lukukay, and this latest setback adds to a long list of problems for the midfielder.

To add to Wednesday's injury table, Gary Hooper is likely to also miss out of Saturday's encounter with the Potters.

The striker played 45 minutes against Colchester for the development squad, but Saturday's game is likely to come too soon for the 30-year-old, who continues his recovery process.
