Derby County have put an indifferent start to the season behind them by winning their last three fixtures in the Sky Bet Championship.

Saturday saw Frank Lampard’s side edge past Hull City, with goals from Martyn Waghorn and Florian Jozefzoon securing a 2-1 victory, which catapulted the Rams up to fourth in the table heading into the international break.

Although he wasn’t on the scoresheet this week, Mason Mount stood out again, producing another promising performance from central midfield.

The Chelsea loanee is the latest feature of our FLW Spotlight:

Mount completed 90 minutes of Saturday’s clash with Hull, with the 19-year-old producing three shots on goal and winning three fouls.

The midfielder also made two crosses, as well as 24 passes, three of which were key passes.

The accuracy of Mount’s passing also stood out, with the midfielder finishing the 90 minutes with a pass success rate of 71%.

The Verdict

Mount has showed this season with his four goals that he’s going to score plenty from midfield, however, the rest of his game is also standing out.

So often young players, particularly midfielders, struggle with the demands of the Championship when stepping down on loan from the Premier League, but Mount is breaking the mould.

There are shades of Lampard in Mount, with the midfielder’s confidence to be admired.

On Saturday he was a key influence in midfield, with his stats making excellent reading.

Chelsea are sure to be keeping a watchful eye on how their talented midfielder is developing under Lampard at Derby.
