Luton achieved their first league win in nine games, with the Hatters inflicting a 3-2 defeat on Derby County on Tuesday evening under the lights at Kenilworth Road.

Strikes from Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu, Donervon Daniels and an own goal from The Rams' Jayden Bogle off Harry Cornick's initial effort secured a vital three points for the Hatters, in what was an end to end game.

The result sees Luton continue to occupy last place in the Championship table, but Graeme Jones's side have now moved level on points with Barnsley who sit in 23rd. The Hatters are also six points from safety.

One of the club's key men last night was Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu, with Luton's current longest serving player putting in a Man of the Match performance for his side against Derby.

Mpanzu played the full 94 minutes yesterday, scoring his third goal of the season and Luton's first of the night, once again finding the net from distance.

This time, he arrowed in a half-volley into the bottom right-hand corner from just outside the area to level the scoring in the 67th minute.

As well as grabbing a pivotal goal that helped to shape the outcome of the contest for his side, Mpanzu demonstrated his ability in the middle of the park, helping to pull the strings for the Hatters.

With a pass success rate of 81% during the course of the ninety minutes, the 25-year-old was efficient when in possession of the ball.

He also helped to create chances for the forward line, contributing with three key passes in total.

His defensive contribution also did not go unnoticed. Mpanzu won two successful aerial duels and made three interceptions to cap off an excellent evening for the Hatters.

The midfielder has been at Luton since the club competed in the Conference, and has scored at every level en-route to the Championship. He has played over 200 games for the Hatters in a six-year spell at Kenilworth Road.
