Luton Town take on Charlton Athletic this evening at Kenilworth Road, desperate to put a stop to their five match losing run in the Sky Bet Championship.

Saturday's 2-1 gutting last-minute defeat to Leeds United means that Graeme Jones' Hatters occupy the final relegation place in 22nd.

However, the manager will be looking at the positives, with Luton back at home once again in front of their supporters. A win for The Hatters this evening could see them climb to 19th place.

We look at three key battles that could decide the outcome of tonight's important game.

Sonny Bradley vs Macauley Bonne

Luton's 28-year-old central defender will have to limit Charlton's main striker tonight if his side are to come away with a positive result.

Macauley Bonne wins an average of 3.4 aerial duals per game, according to WhoScored, which is a fraction higher than Bradley manages, at 2.7 duals won per game.

With Bonne's excellent heading ability, the key will lie in his marking, and limiting the opportunities that Charlton can have from set pieces or crosses.

Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu vs Erhun Oztumer

Luton stalwart Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu is likely to be deployed in the defensive midfielder role, which will mean he will be coming up against Charlton attacking midfielder Erhun Oztumer.

The Charlton man had his best game to date in a Charlton shirt last time out against Cardiff, providing a key assist for Jonathan Leko's second goal. The 28-year-old also made three key passes against the Bluebirds.

Although Mpanzu likes to drive forward with the ball, he may have to try his best to stick to his position to prevent Charlton succeeding on the counter-attack and cutting out passing lanes.

James Collins vs Tom Lockyer

This one may be the battle of the match to look out for the most, as Collins is extremely good in the air - demonstrating that against Leeds United.

Quiz! Can you name Luton's last 15 permanent managers?

As Lockyer has been one of Charlton's better players this season, it will interesting to see how the Welshman can combat the threat posed by Collins, particularly in the 18-yard-box, where he has scored all six of his league goals.

Lockyer, however averages 3.9 clearances per game, and wins an average of four aerial duals, so it will be far from easy for Collins to contending with the Welshman over the course of the contest.
