According to Football Insider, Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall is attracting interest from Premier League giants Arsenal.

The 22-year-old has been an everpresent for Forest this season, helping his boyhood club become a really solid unit and establish themselves as real promotion contenders this term.

The Reds have only conceded 13 goals this season, which is largely down to the solid performances put in by Worrall alongside the likes of Michael Dawson and Tobias Figueiredo.

Worrall has certainly come up leaps and bounds since his loan spell at Rangers last season, and he will be so important for the Reds as they look to win promotion from the Sky Bet Championship this season.

With his contract at the City Ground not set to expire until 2022, it would take a lot for Forest to sell arguably their most talented defender and most promising player.

But Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in England, if they really want to sign one of the country's most talented, up and coming defenders, then you feel that they will definitely put their money where their mouth is.

Can you score 15 out of 15 on this Forest quiz?

With that being said, if worst comes to worst, we take a look at three defenders who Forest could look to target if Worrall leaves...

Scott McKenna

McKenna is likely to be the most popular name on Forest fans' lips if Worrall were to leave the City Ground for the Emirates.

At the age of 23, McKenna has already achieved a lot - he has captained the Scotland national side on more than one occasion, and has proved to be one of, if not the best central defender in the SPFL for Aberdeen.

But despite his contract at Pittodrie running out in 2023, manager Derek McInnes has admitted that the defender could leave in January, after handing in a transfer request in the summer.

Forest and QPR both had offers rejected for the defensive stalwart, so it's a move that would make perfect sense if he were to leave.

Ben Gibson

Gibson may be slightly older than Worrall, but the experience he could bring to the back-line alongside Michael Dawson could be beneficial.

The 26-year-old is completely out-of-favour at Burnley under Sean Dyche, making just the one appearance for the Clarets this season which came against Sunderland in the Carabao Cup.

But before his move to Turf Moor, Gibson was outstanding for Middlesbrough, making over 200 appearances for the Teesside club and captaining them to promotion in 2016.

He knows what it takes to get promoted to the Premier League, and he will be desperate to get back to playing regularly.

Konstantinos Mavropanos

If Worrall were to join Arsenal, then you feel that it would push Mavropanos further down the pecking order at the Emirates, which could work well in Forest's favour.

The 21-year-old is a tall, left-sided centre-half who could offer some real balance to the Reds' back-line, and he still has a large amount of potential despite his lack of game-time at Arsenal.

The Greek defender has made just seven first-team appearances for the Gunners since joining from Ioannina in 2018, and he could be open to a move to a big club like Forest.
