Morecambe recently announced that they had parted company with Jim Bentley after a poor run of form in League Two.

Bentley's last game in charge came in a 1-0 defeat to Stevenage at the weekend, which leaves them two points adrift at the foot of the table.

The new manager that is appointed will have to waste no time in making a positive impact on the current playing squad as they look to turn their poor start to the season around at the earliest of opportunities.

Bentley's departure brought an end to a 17-year spell at Globe Arena, and many supporters will be surprised to hear of his next job in management.

The 43-year-old moved to Vanarama National League side AFC Fylde, and will be hoping to guide them to promotion into the Football League this season.

But Morecambe can't afford to get their next managerial appointment wrong, as relegation is a real possibility at this moment in time.

We look at THREE managers that Morecambe should be considering as Bentley's replacement.

Tim Flowers

Flowers is currently in charge of Vanarama National League side Solihull Moors, and has been impressive in his time with the club.

Solihull are currently sat ninth in the league table, and will be hoping to build on an impressive campaign last season, where they finished second, but missed out on promotion after a defeat in the play-offs.

Flowers is a 'big name' at that level, and he could certainly be tempted by a move to the Football League, even though it's a tough challenge with a Morecambe side that will be fearing relegation from the fourth tier this season.

He could be the manager they need to turn their poor run of form around this term.

Kevin Nolan

Nolan has been out of work since he was dismissed from his role in charge of Notts County in August 2018.

The job was Nolan's first in his managerial career, and he could be tempted to get back into management and progress up the Football League.

You have to take into consideration that the former West Ham midfielder worked in difficult circumstances with Notts County as they eventually dropped out of the Football League, and this could be the perfect opportunity for him to silence some of his critics.

Stewart Drummond

Some of the Morecambe supporters could be keen to see someone who knows the club well be appointed as Bentley's replacement this season.

You'll struggle to find a player that fits that description better than Stewart Drummond.

The 43-year-old made 300 appearances in total for the Shrimps in his playing career, and retired back in 2015. But Drummond doesn't have any experience of managing a team, which could be a slight concern for the Morecambe board.

They can't afford to be taking any risks when it comes to this next appointment, as it's likely to make or break their season this term.
