Reading are a side struggling to capture any kind of consistency this season, and this is something that has partially been caused by a series of summer signings, that haven't turned out the way then-manager Steve Clarke would have hoped.

Paolo Hurtado has barely seen any game time since arriving at the Madejski Stadium, and former Real Madrid midfielder Alex Fernandez has also failed to have the desired impact.

Similarly, Orlando Sa has failed to push on since his hat trick in the 5-1 win against Ipswich earlier in the season, and Matej Vydra has only just started to get going on the goals front.

Only really Paul McShane, Stephen Quinn and Andrew Taylor could be seen as real successes, so business in January is looking likely, and after Man City midfielder George Evans arrived for free, and Yann Kermorgant came in from Bournemouth, it is clear the Thai owners are willing to spend.

So, here are THREE signings that could push Reading to the next level.........

Reading were linked with a move for the talented young striker earlier in the January transfer window, and with the race to sign the youngster hotting up, Reading better make their move quick, or risk being left behind in the battle.

Whilst his goal tally for Bolton may seem fairly modest this season, you only have to look back on the impact he made last season when, along with Adam Le Fondre, who arrived in the second half of the season on loan, he almost single handedly kept Bolton up.

His pace and talent could definitely be used by the Royals at the moment.

Aleksander Prijkovic

Aleksander Prijkovic

The Swiss striker currently plays in the Polish Ekstraklasa for Legia Warsaw, and has scored 10 goals in 31 appearances for the Polish side this season.

Prijkovic has an excellent blend of strength and power, and he isn't slow either, and has the ability and agility to take the ball round defenders at ease.

After quite a 'Journeyman' career to date, the 25-year-old has had spells at Derby County, FC Sion, Tromso and Boluspor, but could well find that Reading is the right match for him, should he join former team-mate Orlando Sa at the Championship club.

Harun Tekin

The Turkish keeper is hardly a household name amongst Football League fans, but Bursaspor's talented 26-year-old could be an excellent signing ,to prove a solution to the goalkeeper crisis at the club at the moment.

With Jonathan Bond seemingly too shaky to warrant a starting role, and Ali Al-Habsi looking tremendously inconsistent, a new goalkeeper will be high on the priority list for Brian McDermott.

Tekin has undoubted quality, but has started just a handful of games this season, and could be poached for a figure of around £1 million, making him a reasonable fix for the problem.
