With the January transfer window now in full swing, clubs from across the Football League will be scrambling to bring in new players to give them the edge in various battles during the season run in.
For Nottingham Forest, there is still a good chance of breaking into the top-six, with Aitor Karanka’s side sat in seventh place but four points behind Derby County who currently occupy the final play-off place.
Having brought in 17 new faces during the summer, however, the Forest board may be less willing to back the Spaniard this time around, but it would be a surprise to see nobody arrive.
The latest name to be linked with a move to the City Ground is Leicester City shot-stopper, and former Hull City man, Eldin Jakupovic with faith in first-choice goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon beginning to fade.
Jakupovic is well down the pecking order at the King Power stadium and a move could well be on the card.
But here are THREE goalkeepers the Reds should target instead…
The Barnsley shot-stopper has proven to be more than competent in the second-tier and has continued to show that this season in League One.
If Forest want reliability to stand-in for Pantilimon’s often temperamental style then the Barnsley captain is the perfect choice and with his contract set to expire in the summer is a very realistic option too.
They may have to fend off some competition from Leeds United but given Darlow’s history at the City Ground it could give them the edge.
Darlow has been heavily linked with a move away from Newcastle United this window and having proven himself consistently in the second-tier would surely be a better option than the Leicester man.
After a few consistently impressive seasons in the second tier with the Bees now, Bentley has proven himself to be capable of the job at Forest.
At 25 he has the potential to be the long-term goalkeeper that Forest need and a move for him would make so much more sense than one for Jakupovic.
