Ipswich Town made it two wins out of two after beating Rochdale in their last League One fixture with a solid 1-0 win before turning their attentions to the FA Cup fixture against Lincoln last weekend.

Ipswich made an incredible start to the season under Paul Lambert after going unbeaten in their first 11 matches of the season before then suffering disappointing consecutive defeats against Accrington Stanley and Rotherham within three days.

But with the most recent win against Rochdale, and another victory over Southend, Lambert's side have managed to hold on to first place in League One with 33 points after 15 games.

Ipswich were due to face fellow promotion candidates Oxford United this weekend, but the game was postponed as too many players were absent due to international duty.

The short break this weekend will give Lambert a chance to assess his side's excellent start to the season but here are three dilemmas that will be running through his mind this weekend.

Two losses in the last four

The two losses last month to Accrington and Rotherham came as a shock to Ipswich fans who looked almost unbeatable at the beginning of the season.

However, these results highlighted how Ipswich can be beaten with a solid defensive setup and by taking your chances.

Against Rotherham, Ipswich only had four shots on goal throughout the match and showed that they can be contained with a 451 structured formation.

Tough upcoming fixtures

It may be fortunate that Ipswich's fixture against Oxford has been postponed, otherwise they would have faced three teams in the top six within their next four fixtures.

However, Lambert's side face sides who are fighting for the play offs in their next batch of fixtures after their short international break, including Wycombe Wanderers, who are also on 33 points in second currently.

This run of fixtures will be vital for Ipswich and a run of positive results may see them widen the gap at the top of the table in the lead up to the busy Christmas spell.

Dip in home form

Although they are top of the table overall, Ipswich's home form would place them in 13th with three wins from six.

Ipswich's most recent home fixture was the 2-0 loss to Rotherham where the team put in a dull performance.

The next three home fixtures are against Blackpool, Wycombe and Bristol Rovers who are all battling for promotion so Lambert will be well aware that he needs to put a sequence of wins together at home to secure top spot in League One.
