Norwich City are flying high at the top of the Championship after an excellent start to the season that will have surprised many.

Daniel Farke's men have a clear way of playing and they've been a joy to watch recently, with the 4-3 victory over Millwall last time out one that will be remembered for a long time.

However, they could be dealt a blow after news emerged that Southampton are lining up a move for technical director Stuart Webber.

The 34-year-old has been a key reason for the Canaries recent success, as he was behind the appointment of Farke and has been influential in recruitment.

That follows on from the impressive work he did with Huddersfield that ultimately resulted in promotion to the top-flight for the Terriers.

Therefore, interest from the Saints is understandable but it's also imperative for Norwich that they keep Webber as they look to move forward.

Here we look at THREE impacts his departure would have on the club...

As mentioned, a key part of Webber's job comes down to identifying and recruiting players, so losing him so close to January would be a major blow.

The winter window is always pivotal to sides chasing promotion and most connected to Norwich would admit they need a few new faces in if they are to last the distance.

Therefore, if Webber did go to Southampton it could set them back big time in terms of planning for January signings.

As well as that, his departure could cause a lot of confusion at the top of the club.

Do they get a replacement in straight away? Do they share a similar philosophy to Webber? Or will Farke take up more control?

It would leave the club in a very awkward situation at an important part of the season.

Finally, it could cause issues for Farke.

He was the man that Webber appointed and you can see since he took charge that the pair have enjoyed a close working relationship and share a similar idea on the game and the team.

So, losing a close figure to the manager could have a negative impact.
