Kemar Roofe’s injury setback last month was a major worry for Leeds United, who were heading into a key period without the man that had spearheaded their promotion push this season.

Leeds were seeing the best of Roofe, who had struck 14 goals prior to injuring his knee ligaments in the victory over Swansea City.

Despite Roofe’s absence, Leeds are doing well, with Patrick Bamford bagging a brace in Friday night’s 4-0 demolition of West Bromwich Albion.

Marcelo Bielsa expects Roofe back for the run-in and an Instagram post from the 26-year-old yesterday suggested that might not be a million miles away, with the forward now out of his knee brace as he steps up his recovery.

Of course, it’s positive to see and it will give supporters added hope of Roofe playing a major role as Leeds go in search of promotion.

Here at FLW, we look at three impacts it’ll have on Bielsa’s side…

[snack_break title="Another boost"]

Seeing Roofe without his brace is a boost and will give everyone associated with Leeds a lift.

The players will be seeing him working hard to get back and assist them, whilst his eventual return will lift a fanbase.

[snack_break title="Squeezing every drop out of Patrick Bamford"]

Bamford is doing his bit and scoring goals, but this update will only encouraging him.

This is the 25-year-old’s first proper run in the side due to Roofe’s form and his own injuries, so he won’t want to give it up easy.

Seeing Roofe working his way back to fitness will squeeze every drop of quality out of Bamford.

[snack_break title="Competition for places"]

It might still be some way off, but Roofe’s return will add to competition for places in Leeds’ squad.

You’d suddenly have Roofe, Bamford, Tyler Roberts and Izzy Brown in competition for the No.9 & 10 roles in the side, whilst others fill in out wide.

That’s going to be massive for Bielsa during the final five or six games.
