To say it's been an eventful window at Leeds United would be to downplay things, though Whites fans might well tell you that it's not been how they would have imagined it going.

The men from Elland Road went into pre-season as favourites for the Championship title this summer - many still think they are - but summer business has been okay rather than brilliant.

Losing Pontus Jansson means Ben White has a big task potentially awaiting him, and, though the Helder Costa signing should prove positive, rumours are that Kemar Roofe could be on the way.

The Daily Mail suggests Anderlecht are in talks about completing a £7m deal for the striker which would leave Leeds, frankly, way too short attacker-wise for the new season.

They'd have to get a new forward in before the window shuts but, with time ticking, who can they go to that won't hold them to ransom with such little time left?

It's a far from welcome potential sight for Whites fans, but we're looking at the players that they might have to consider if Roofe does leave the club...

Dwight Gayle

Let's be honest if Roofe does leave the club, Leeds fans are going to be up in arms and rightly so.

They've seen Jansson go without any real replacement and losing Roofe leaves their promotion chances in real jeopardy.

Radrizzani and co. will need to make a big statement to appease fans and Gayle would be exactly that, though it's clear he's going to cost an arm and a leg.

Could a loan be thrashed out? Only this deal might keep increasingly concerned Whites fans at bay.

Neal Maupay

Like Gayle, Maupay won't be coming cheap but he's a player capable of keeping Leeds fans at bay if he comes in.

Will Brentford want to sell to a play-off rival? They have a history if the price is right and maybe the Jansson deal will loosen their grip?

It's an odd set of circumstances but the Whites are going to have to do something like this to keep fans onside, are they going to be willing to pay the money, though?

Eddie Nketiah

Who really is going to be willing to let a senior striker leave at this point if Leeds come calling? Clearly, Roofe could go and it's baffling in many respects but the Whites might have to be clever and go after a loan star at a Premier League side.

Nketiah might be one to look at.

Arsenal have just signed Nicholas Pepe to add to Lacazette and Aubameyang so Nketiah is going to find it hard to get minutes.

He can play across a front three and runs channels like Roofe can, whilst he has impressed in pre-season for the Gunners.

Still a risk, though, and Leeds shouldn't be finding themselves in such a situation at this late stage.
