Cardiff City have completed the signing of Middlesbrough centre back Aden Flint. The defender, who played for Bristol City before getting a big money move to the Teesside club, is now looking to finally win promotion after three clubs in three years.

Neil Warnock and his Cardiff side will be looking to bounce straight back to the Premier League after finishing just two points from top-flight safety behind Brighton and Hove Albion.

They will be hoping that Flint will be able to help them do that. For Middlesbrough, though, their new manager Jonathan Woodgate will be looking to add more quality to his squad this summer, particularly in defence after this exit.

Here are three replacements that Boro should definitely be considering a move for as Woodgate looks to add bodies to his backline...

Fikayo Tomori (loan)

Although Frank Lampard has already worked with Fikayo Tomori at Derby County, it's unlikely that the Chelsea manager will deem Tomori to be ready to compete for a starting spot at Chelsea in the upcoming season.

Tomori's loan at Derby County would have helped the central defender in terms of understanding the Championship and the demands that he faces in the second tier. He could be competing in the top end of the Championship again if Middlesbrough decide to bring him in on loan.

The 21-year-old England youth international could also be motivated to come to the Riverside Stadium to work with a former world-class central defender in Jonathan Woodgate.

This move could happen if Lampard decides to release Tomori for another loan spell.

Toni Leistner

The QPR captain's leadership qualities would be of great benefit to Middlesbrough if he did join the club, especially with such an inexperienced manager at the helm.

At 28, Leistner is now in the peak stage of his career and may not want to compete in another relegation battle with Queens Park Rangers, although Mark Warburton could steer the West London club away from that and on to better things.

However, if an offer does come in from Middlesbrough, Leistner will be tempted by a move away to a club that's aiming to reach the play-off places after narrowly missing out last season under former boss Tony Pulis. He would be a very good replacement for Flint.

Liam Moore

Reading's new captain Moore has been a very good player for Reading in the past three years. After joining the Berkshire club from Leicester City in 2016, the team has come within a couple of spot-kicks away from reaching the top-flight in the play-off final to nearly getting relegated twice.

After Reading's steep decline, Liam Moore handed in a transfer request last summer amid strong interest from the Premier League, before signing a new deal to keep him at the club.

Although Moore is the new captain and has not been linked with a move away from the Madejski Stadium recently, one high bid could change all that as the Royals look to raise funds to combat their soft transfer ban from the EFL.

This move may prove too expensive for Boro, but it'll be worth a shot. Moore may look to move away from the Madejski Stadium in January, if Reading are in and around the relegation zone.
