Iceland's journey to the Euro 2016 Knockout Stages has been staggering. After doing the double over Holland in qualifying, they finished behind the Czech Republic in second place to book their ticket to France.

In their first game they drew 1-1 with Portugal, where Nani put Portugal in front before a Birkir Bjarnason strike levelled the scoring. Next up was a clash with Hungary, in which they defended heroically, and after Gylfi Sigurdsson put Iceland ahead from the spot, they looked set to secure a place in the next round, but an unfortunate own goal meant 1-1 was the final score once more.

In their final group game against Austria they looked set for three 1-1 draws, but after Austria threw men forward in search of a winner, Birkir Bjarnason's clearance set up a counter attack which Arnor Ingvi Traustason finished off to send Iceland through.

Several players have emerged through this squad who look like real talents, so here are 3 Iceland players at Euro 2016 who Championship clubs should look to sign.

Hannes Halldorsson

The 32-year-old keeper currently plies his trade with NEC Breda in Holland, but spent last season out on loan with Bodo/Glimt, a Norwegian first division side.

He didn't even play professionally until 2-years ago, but Halldorsson has established himself as a competent keeper with some outstanding performances in goal for Iceland at Euro 2016.

He could be a perfect signing for the likes of Burton Albion or Wigan and any other team expected to be around the bottom third of the table.

Arnor Ingvi Traustason

The winger was linked with a move to Championship outlet Reading in January, and his stocks have risen even further now after he scored the dramatic late winner which fired Iceland into a Knockout stage tie with England on Monday night.

Quick and direct with the ability to cross from deep, Traustason could be an excellent Championship signing, if he can be prised away from Rapid Wien.

He wont be available on the cheap, but at 23-years of age, he still has plenty of potential to fill.

Ari Skulason

The 29-year-old left back has made 41 senior appearances for Iceland, and has the ability to play at both left and right back, as well as occupy the defensive midfield role.

There is a shortage of solid left backs in the Championship, and Skulason could do a good job for any top half Championship side who are looking to make the play offs.

He would be available from Danish club side Odense BK  for a modest fee, and picking him up this summer could be a smart piece of business, if he replicates his international form at club level.
