Huddersfield Town have looked like a completely different team for all of the right reasons since Danny Cowley took charge of the Terriers.

But it seems as though the newly-appointed boss is looking to move some of his squad on when the January transfer window opens, with Cowley preferring to work with a smaller squad which he revealed in a recent Q&A session (quotes sourced Examiner Live).

"We’ve got 28 professional footballers, which is more than we normally work with – we normally like to work with 22, because we like to have a really competitive squad where everybody feels like they have a pathway.

"Sometimes when you have really big squads then all of a sudden some players can lose their way; if they’re not the second choice but they’re the third or fourth choice then sometimes they can lose a bit of direction, lose a bit of motivation.

"We like to have a smaller squad of high quality, that’s what we try to work towards."

So it's set to be an interesting few months ahead with the Terriers, as Cowley looks to clear out the so-called 'deadwood' at the club.

But which three Huddersfield players will be fearing for their future at the club after Cowley's latest update?

Find out below....

Isaac Mbenza

The Belgian has been restricted to just one league start so far this season, as well as making four substitute appearances for the Terriers.

This might come as a surprise given that Mbenza made 22 appearances altogether in the top-flight, although he only scored once in the Premier League.

Mbenza has been used as a substitute twice since Cowley took charge of the club, but with Elias Kachunga ahead of him in the pecking order, he could be one of the players to be departing the club in the New Year.

Herbert Bockhorn

Bockhorn only arrived at Huddersfield in the summer, but he's failed to nail down a regular starting spot in the Terriers squad, which will be frustrating.

The 24-year-old has only played once this season, which came in a defeat to Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.

Baring in mind that he wasn't a Danny Cowley signing, it wouldn't come as a surprise to see the 24-year-old heading for the exit door in the January transfer window if they can get his wages off the books.

Colin Quaner

Quaner has found himself well down the pecking order in Danny Cowley's plans and it seems as though his days with Huddersfield are numbered.

The 28-year-old has made just two league appearances for the Terriers this season, and he's unlikely to get in the starting XI ahead of Karlan Grant who has been in impressive form this term.

Quaner spent last year's league campaign on loan with Ipswich Town, where he scored four league goals for the Tractor Boys, but was unable to stop them from being relegated into League One.

The January transfer window can't come soon enough for Quaner.
