After two solid seasons in League Two, Grimsby Town will be looking to switch their priorities from mere survival to pushing for the promotion spots.

For this to be done though, they need to strengthen their squad over the summer transfer window.

So far they have brought in six new signings.

John Welsh, Jake Hessenthaler, Elliot Whitehouse, Harry Davis, Louis Robles and Jordan Cook have all joined the club on free transfers.

Eleven players were also released by the club at the end of the season whilst young winger Siriki Dembele has joined Peterborough United.

There is clearly still work to be done by the Mariners, so here are three players they could sign that could make them a force in League Two.

The Mariners currently only own one right back, so it's an area that definitely needs strengthening.

Ryan Jackson of Colchester United is somebody who would vastly improve their squad and pinching a right-back from a League Two rival would be a real statement.

Grimsby do not currently own a single right-midfielder, leaving it as a massive problem area for Michael Jolley to deal with.

Someone who would help is Carlisle United's Jamie Devitt. The experienced midfielder scored 11 goals last season and created four more.

He is also entering the last year of his contract so could be signed for a great price.

Much like Devitt, Dawson is also entering the last year of his deal.

The 27-year-old got himself five goals and seven assists for Cheltenham Town from right-midfield last season so would add real strength in depth to that area.
