Norwich City made hard work out of their victory over Wycombe Wanderers in Tuesday night's Carabao Cup encounter, as the Canaries ran out 4-3 winners.

Goals from Sam Saunders and Jason McCarthy in the last half-hour ensured that it would be a nervy finish to the game for Norwich, who were leading 4-1 after 51 minutes.

The man they owe that to, after two assists from Emi Buendia, is City striker Jordan Rhodes, and it is the Sheffield Wednesday loanee's performance that we will be focusing on in this FLW Spotlight...

Rhodes, before Tuesday night's encounter, had only netted twice in his first 10 appearances for Norwich, 4 of those appearances coming off the bench.

But the 28-year old's tally is now up to five goals after his hat-trick in the Canaries' 4-3 victory over Wycombe.

The first goal was a proper striker's finish, where Buendia's fine work down the flank led to a close-range finish, and his second goal was a ferocious strike from the edge of the area.

Rhodes then displayed another poacher's finish in the second half, to score his tenth career hat-trick, before the Chairboys made it hard for Daniel Farke's men in the latter stages of the game.

It hasn't been plain sailing for Rhodes in the last few seasons, before his £9million move to Middlesbrough in 2016, the Scotsman scored 86 times for Blackburn Rovers in 159 appearances, and before that scored 87 goals in 148 appearances for Huddersfield Town.

After disappointing spells at Boro and Sheffield Wednesday, Rhodes will now be hoping that Tuesday night's performance can kickstart his season, and will also be hoping of adding more goals to his tally.
