Later on today, Aston Villa take on Fulham in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final, with Steve Bruce’s side just 90 minutes away from a Premier League return.

There will not be much focus beyond the 90 minutes at Wembley this evening, with Premier League football absolutely huge for Villa.

Bruce knows how his transfer dealings with be at risk if promotion isn’t achieved, with Financial Fair Play set to tighten Villa’s belt for a second summer running.

One player Bruce is desperate to get back next season is Sam Johnstone, who has been impressive in goal for Villa over the last 18 months.

Johnstone’s role in helping Villa to the brink of promotion has been key, but if Premier League football isn’t achieved, Johnstone will be hard to re-sign, along with Villa’s other loan stars.

Here at FLW, we take a look at the possibility of Villa losing Johnstone, identifying THREE other goalkeepers they could target…

Like Johnstone, Henderson is on-loan in the Football League from Manchester United.

The goalkeeper has produced some exceptional performances for Shrewsbury Town, helping them into promotion contention.

He’d be a good alternative, who has taken a similar career path to Johnstone.

Across Manchester, Man City have Gunn on their books, with the goalkeeper looking set for another season away from the Etihad Stadium on-loan.

Gunn impressed at Norwich City last season and should Villa lose out on Johnstone, the 22-year-old could be on Bruce’s radar.

Wildsmith has emerged as an exceptional talent at Sheffield Wednesday this season, with the goalkeeper impressing in Keiren Westwood’s absence.

When Westwood return to fitness, it will be interesting to see if he’s promoted back to No.1 – if he is, Villa could potentially make a move to lure Wildsmith away, with the promise of first-team football.
