Coventry City are struggling massively this season.

A heavy loss at Northampton Town left Coventry well adrift at the foot of the League One table.

On the field issues are only worsened by the off the field problems, with Coventry fans perpetually protesting against their hedge fund owners SISU, who have thoroughly asset-stripped the once established Premier League side.

The outlook is bleak for Coventry but the focus just has to be on staying afloat in League One - as difficult as that might look at the moment.

Russell Slade has been active in the transfer window and has added a number of players, whilst getting rid of all Coventry's loan players.

One position which Coventry need to strengthen, though, is goalkeeper.

The Sky Blues have never really replaced Joe Murphy and the current duo - academy pair Lee Burge and Reice Charles-Cook - have both shown frailties.

Here are 3 outcast goalkeepers Coventry could get from the Championship.

Joe Murphy

Coventry have never replaced Joe Murphy so why not bring him back?

Murphy doesn't even make the bench for Huddersfield Town and could do a job for Coventry.

The veteran goalkeeper's experience would also help Burge and Charles-Cook as they learn their trade.

Jonathan Bond

Jonathan Bond is behind Anssi Jaakkola and Ali Al Habsi in the pecking order at Reading and needs to leave for his own sake.

The former England under-21 international is clearly a talented goalkeeper but he needs to move to a club who will start him every week.

Coventry could be the ideal next step for the 23-year-old.

Ross Turnbull

Another third choice goalkeeper, Ross Turnbull needs to leave to further his career.

The experienced stopper has Premier League experience but he is not getting a look in at Leeds.

If he joined Coventry, he would be guaranteed starts and would improve the Sky Blues' leaky defence.
