That is what separates Queens Park Rangers and Reading at the moment.

Both would like to be higher in the Championship, but at least Rangers can sleep easy knowing they won't be in League One next season. Barring a shock, Reading won't be either.

In defence, both sides sport a player who represented his country at U20 and U21 level.

Nedum Onuoha has been past that age limit for a while now, he's 31 and perhaps rueing never hitting his early promise.

Liam Moore is six years younger, but like Onuoha he hasn't managed to fulfil the potential his early years showed.

Both are Championship quality, arguably both could play in the lower reaches of the Premier League, in the right set up.

Onuoha has, he came through the ranks at Manchester City and played for Sunderland as well as QPR in the top flight. Loughborough-born Moore turned out 11 times for Leicester at that level, but has more years in which to experience top flight football.

Which of the two simmering talents is having the best season in 2017/18 though? FLW pits blue hoops against blue hoops to pick a winner.

The first thing to note is game time, Liam Moore has played more than Onuoha, 13 more in fact. Onuoha spent three months out injured in September which accounts for playing fewer games.

Going forward, Moore seems to be more of a threat too. Whilst the QPR captain hasn't got a goal or an assists, Moore has bagged three for the Royals, as well as setting one up. His last goal came on November 21st as his side shared a 2-2 draw with Bolton Wanderers.

They have very similar numbers of average tackles per games, Moore just edging it with 0.9 compared to Onuoha's 0.8. He's got a slight lead in the average clearances per game too, again a slim margin with 6.6 compared to Onuoha's 6.4. It's almost like looking at carbon copies of each other though, their numbers are so close together.

There's little parity between the number of passes per game, whilst Onuoha has 37.7 on average, a respectable number, Moore is a long way ahead with 56.3 per game. for such a struggling side, that number is impressive and perhaps links in nicely with his assists too. Onuoha is a traditional 'kick it away' defender, Moore seems to have a little more of the Rio Ferdinand about him, wanting to play out of trouble.

He's also very successful with his passing, with an 83.1% success rate. That is incredibly high, even for a creative midfielder that would be impressive. Onuoha is no slouch either, his is only marginally less on 78.8%.

Both of these players are having good seasons and if Onuoha hadn't been out injured perhaps his numbers would be even closer to Liam Moore's than they are already. As for Moore, he has an impressive set of stats which prove he has an awful lot to offer, not just at the foot of the Championship.
